Our unique, membership-based online community of current, emerging, and aspiring leaders provides collaborative learning opportunities, peer support, resources, and leadership development services specific to nonprofit leaders that aren’t available anywhere else.

One of the highly valuable programs in the community is the LIVE online workshops. These workshops offer a unique opportunity to engage with nonprofit experts who provide valuable insights and knowledge in several areas of nonprofit leadership that can enhance and develop skills as a nonprofit leader.

Recently, Carolyn Keller of Curio412 presented on Impact Management and shared her expertise in how honing into this area of leadership helps nonprofit leaders use their resources more effectively and earn the trust of the people most invested in their mission.

Managing impact can save time, provide insight, and increase funding opportunities for the organization by:

  • Identifying meaningful metrics
  • Developing a plan to track and use data
  • Demonstrating their impact

Since impact can be defined as “change in people’s lives for better or worse,” the idea of measurement is based on the question:

What CHANGE do you want to make?”

The measures used to understand the impact can be seen as Key Purpose Indicators (KPIs) for nonprofit organizations.

They should:

  • Communicate well – anyone who sees them should understand their importance.
  • Represent something of central importance to the result you want to achieve
  • Be a reliable and consistent source of data

Impact-driven communications is all about helping people make a difference. From the nonprofit organization’s staff and volunteers to their most supportive donors, think about each person involved in the nonprofit organization as an investor, but instead of cultivating financial return, the organization generates a social return.

This idea is why sharing impact is a great way to start a conversation about an organization’s mission and build trust in the organization’s ability to make a positive difference in the world.

Carolyn’s LIVE workshop offered invaluable resources to all participants, including impactful tools for Impact Management, such as a worksheet for metrics and an Impact Logic Model. These resources are readily available in the community, along with a presentation recording.

These valuable resources are accessible and offered to our online community members as a FREE benefit. If you are not yet a member of our online community, you can access these resources by signing up for our online community and enjoying a complimentary two-week trial.

We want to express our deepest appreciation to Carolyn for generously sharing her time and expertise. We are excited about hosting our next LIVE workshop soon and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact together!
