Meet
Wendy

Hi! I am Wendy Burtner, a nonprofit leader, ally, and coach with more than 25 years of experience leading organizations through transitions and building solid foundations for growth. As one of the founders of Nonprofit SideKick, I bring the “nuts & bolts” of nonprofit management to the nonprofit sector, and I love this work! My love for puzzles and solving problems transcends into my consulting and coaching as I help my clients reframe their problems into solutions. I get excited about the opportunity to transform an organization’s culture from organized chaos to organizational excellence, from frustrated staff and board to a dedicated team.

As a graduate of Chatham College, my experience cuts across all areas of the nonprofit sector, including leadership roles in health and human services, corporate philanthropy, economic development, and arts administration. I get it and I get you because I’ve been in your shoes! I understand the unique balancing act of nonprofit leadership – wearing LOTS of hats while herding LOTS of cats. My mission is to ensure every nonprofit leader or emerging leader is knowledgeable, skilled, and confident in their role as a leader.

I am also passionate about giving back to the community and have served on nonprofit boards for 15 years. In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of the Grant Review Committee for the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Advancing Black Artists fund, Treasurer and Chair for the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse, Treasure for the Positive Vibe Foundation, and Board Member and Treasurer for C3: The Creative Change Center of Richmond. I currently serve on the Alumni Board of Chatham University, my alma mater.

I want to help you Crush your goals and succeed! Working with nonprofit leaders is what I was meant to do. Through the years, I’ve learned that the “nuts + bolts” are essential to nonprofit leadership, and that is why I focus on setting strategy and integrating core business functions into my coaching. I aim to bring all that I have learned from all areas of nonprofit management together in one place so that others can learn what it takes to become financially and emotionally thriving. Let’s do this and grow together!
